Museum of Ecclesiastical Culture of the Holy Metropolis of Messinia

The museum is to be housed in the Korfiotakis Mansion. The space of the museum is organized in a very limited space which is to accommodate: a permanent exhibition space, a library space (Centre for Messinian Studies), a reading room which also functions as a space for periodic exhibitions, a small conservation workshop, a multi-purpose space and a storage space. The overall architectural proposal is organized with the aim of carefully restoring the building, incorporating in the design solutions that ensure accessibility to all its spaces without disturbing the character of the monument.

Particular attention has been paid to the surrounding area with rest and rest areas. The design of the surrounding area aspires to transform the museum garden into a cool and welcoming meeting and reflection point, as it has been planned to be planted with endemic trees and plants, with reference to the travellers who have passed through Messinia and recorded their observations.
